Mid America Motorworks Funfest for Aircooled VW 2009!!!
This Show is coming up fast and it is not too late to get in on the action! My family and I have been going to this show for 9 years straight and love it more every year. Please consider going to this event next year. We leave on Friday morning and usually get there around 3pm. We don't rush to get there and stop to have a picnic before we get there. We have always stayed at the Super 8 motel in Effingham since it is a perfect location. Walking distance to Wal-Mart and many restaurants. It is also very easy to get to the show from Super 8 without using any main roads and only 1 stop light.

GoodVolks 1st Annual Show And Swap A Success!
Well our first attempt at reviving the old Sam's Club show put on originally by the West Michigan Vintage Volkswagen Club is in the books and a great success for a rainy first time. A big thanks goes out to Rudy Bahnsen who took care of all the behind the scenes work and thanks to George of Georges Hot VW's for his support! Also thanks to all our members who made it a smooth running event. We are blessed with many great members willing to help out. We raised a total of $862 at the show and thanks to an anonymous donor raised a total of $1,000 for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and had 28 registered show cars and a few in the parking lot which is great for a rainy nasty day! Great work everyone! The trophy went to the car with the most votes and we made every vote cost $1 each this went over well and soon there was a competition to win the trophy and raise money for the charity. Coming in 1st was Sal of the Harsh Winters VW Club with his beautiful 57 Beetle then coming in 2nd was our own Glen Thompson with his also beautiful 76 Westy. The GoodVolks Spring Show and Swap, Apr 26, 2009!!!!!
The GoodVolks event at Sam's Club in Holland, MI will be held to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Show is open to Air-Cooled VW's and the Swap portion is for VW Air-Cooled parts (sorry, selling of primarily clothes, toys etc is not what this event is for). There will be a People's Choice trophy awarded to the Show Entrant that is voted in by the public. Note, your Grandma will have to come to get that extra vote as your wife and anyone else gets only one vote. The event runs from 11 am to 3pm with Show ballots counted at 2 pm. Space is limited, so come early, not late.

Chat is up!
Some members had mentioned an interest in having live chat available on the forums well tonight I got it up and running. Its the free version just like the rest of the site but I hope to upgrade everything sometime this year.

GoodVolks 1st Annual Christmas Party A Success!!!
Well its over and what a good time it was! This was the first time we tried anything like this and it worked out very well. We had 26 people show up which continued our growing trend and that was awesome! We had a VW white elephant gift exchange with a $10 limit which worked out well. The restaurant was really good to us and the back room we were in was decorated Christmas style to set the Holiday mood. Next month we are off to Lansing for our meeting for the first time. Hope to see you there!

The GoodVolks Christmas Party is coming up! This is our first time doing this so it may be a little shaky but we will learn. We are having it a the very nice University Roadhouse in Kalamazoo which has a nice winter/Christmas like feel to it. We will have games and white elephant gifts to provide entertainment. I am so proud of how much this "Club" has grown. See more info at the left.

End Of The Season
So the VW Show Season has come to and end but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Now we all have time to catch up on some much needed weekends off and get some work done on the VW's for next season. Be sure to check out the Forums and look at the member projects as the progress towards completion and add yours to the list as well. We love seeing what you are working on and helping. One thing about GoodVolks members is they are always willing to lend a hand in helping you get your project done.

November GTG A Great Success!!!
Thanks to everyone who came out and made the November GTG at Brann's Steakhouse such a good time. We had first timers and familiar faces, VW's and non VW's, Good food and good friends. Some Brave souls drove their VW's to the meeting in the messy rain/snow/sleet mix. We had a turnout of 26 people I think was the final count. Lets continue that success onto coming GTG's and next show season as well. Thanks again to everyone as this "Club" would not survive without your support!

Racers and Motorsports minded enthusiasts!!!
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all Drag Racers, Autocrossers, Roadcourse Racers, Etc. to join us as we are not just a Club who gets together and does shows only. We had our first Annual GoodVolks Drag Day October 5th and had a great time doing so. We also have a few members who Autocross on a regular basis so I added a Motorsports section to our forums. I for one am hooked now on Drag Racing and hope to have a car capable of some good times rather than just my daily soon.

Well Fall is upon us and it's time once again for our Color Tour. Even if your VW isn't running you can still join us in your regular Car/Motorcycle.
We have the special honor of having the The Good Volks group from Western Michigan joining us so I decide to arrange a tour somewhere between our locations.

GoodVolks Drag Days 2008
What a great day and fun competition. We had our first annual Drag Day today at US131 Motorsports Park. We lucked out with the weather as it was a mild sunny day. We owe a big thanks to Rudy for organizing this event and making up dash magnets and a first place award. We based the award off of who had the best reaction time of the day. It ended up being my Father Mike Fisher in "Splash" with a .0010 reaction!!! It was a low pressure day just come out and have fun. We will definately be doing this again next year! Also we need to thank US131 Motorsports Park for saving us a spot in the pits and for having us at their great facility. If you weren't there for this one you missed a great one and we hope you make it next time!

September GTG
What a good time! We had an amazing turnout with 14 VW's and 1 Honda! Haha Chris just giving you crap! After eating some great food we got our VW's positioned just right to take a picture we are going to send to Hot VW's for the Bug Mail in hopes to have our club mentioned in the Magazine! I hope it works out that will be great exposure for us. We then took a small 2 mile cruise around the lake and back to the property. It was awesome seeing all the VW's cruising around my home town. I hope some of you who have not yet made it to a GTG come out soon before we have to put the VW's away for the year which will for most of us be next month! Here is a pic of the cars as we got them ready for the photo.
And here is one of Steve and Aki holding the Banner for a picture for the Magazine! Notice we are really high tech here haha.

Updated logo and new shirts available to order!
We finally got our new screenprinter for our shirts squared away and shirts and hooded sweatshirts can now be ordered. This new screenprinter also does banners, vinyls, stickers, embroidery, etc. It should be a great place for us to get alot of merchandise made up.

Fall BugRun
Well, the fall bug run is now history.
As in the past we would really appreciate your feedback; good and bad, big or small. Our feedback is appreciated by US131. Many positive changes have been made to the bug runs as a result of our feedback. I will be sending a link to this thread to US 131 so they can see what we have to say.
As this progresses I may ask for feedback on specific areas but for now, have at it.

DDK Members
The BugRun also gave us a chance to talk with some members of the DDK group and we hope to be working together at events and helping grow the hobby. Drag racing is very addictive and fun. I hope this brings some more excitement to the club.
